Shiseido presents a new skincare line WASO
2:55 PMJapanese cosmetic company Shiseido has brought forth a new skincare line called WASO which is aimed at the millennial age group, it is meant to appeal to their all accepting, youthful ethos. It utilises some well known ingredients that we are more used to consuming as food such as carrots, honey, tofu and some not so well known foodstuffs - white jelly mushrooms and loquat leaf.
WASO is a two part name that stems from the Japanese language: the 'WA' means peace and harmony and 'SO' is akin to idea, inspired and together is WASO. There is seven product formulations in the range that all have one thing in common and that is to provide a plump, hydrated complexion with using mainly whole carrot cells. There is oil free versions of the hydrating creams and the Color Smart day SPF 30 moisturiser. The Color Smart moisturiser is as its name implies is meant to alter to your personal skin tone. Cosmetic products that can alter to suit you individually are really a form of smoke and mirrors and you are better off finding a foundation or BB Cream/CC cream etc to suit you. These color change products react with heat and moisture on your body and in your environment and have been hawked over many many years this is outlined in an article here.
The products are housed in modern components with what looks like pumps or are in a tube for mess free access although there is one jar which may or may not have a press down pump which I hope it does because I feel jars with lids that come off can then have compromised ingredients once they come into contact with oxygen, all the time (as well as bacteria from fingers and hands) that you pay so much money for and they are in soft colors of a very pale beige, transparent, pastel green and apricot. The look of these products I think very much echoes the ingredients and the back story of inspired thought and that these products are for every person who wants to use them. If they were in all black packaging then I would not think the designers 'got' the brief! They have a minimalist look which matches well with the Japanese aesthetic. I am unsure of the price point but Shiseido is a high end brand so perhaps WASO will be in the mid way price point range because it is aimed at millennial's.
I will be interested in seeing whether the WASO line will be released in store in Australia. I'll be keeping an eye out!
