I wasn't going to buy this palette as the first thing it reminded me of is the Anastasia Beverley Hills Modern Renaissance eyeshadow palette with a few shade
But I thought I will give it a chance! I didn't watch any video reviews or read any reviews so I would go into the review of the palette unbiased.
After having used it for around a month I have some definite thoughts about each shadow individually and how to use the shadows for the best results.
Shadows Breakdown
Hot Spot - Matte cream shade with a hint of peach that has excellent pigment for a pale shade and easy to use.
Caution - A light taupe matte shade that I keep finding it to be light on pigment and not easy to blend.
Bang Bang - A bright peach glitter that you MUST use a glitter glue with as otherwise it is extremely underwhelming.
Feelz - A muted salmon/coral pink matte shade with weak pigment but it blends easily.
Juicy - A matte peach that is rich with pigment and easy to blend.
Turn On - A light peach foil shade with good pigment that applies best with no primer, primer with no setting powder or with a makeup setting spray.
Ambitious - A copper foil shade with good pigment that applies best with no primer, primer with no setting powder or with a makeup setting spray.
Bing - A rich matte dark pink that blends easily.
Devilish - A deep matte russet rich red that blends easily.
Young Love - A true fuchsia pink with gold accents foil shade that applies best with no primer, primer with no setting powder or with a makeup setting spray.
Drunk Dial - A copper rose gold foil shade that applies best with no primer, primer with no setting powder or with a makeup setting spray.
Privacy - A deep matte chocolate brown that blends easily.
I do feel the shades are almost duplicated in the Modern Renaissance palette but on closer inspection and actual use I would only say Privacy is very close to Cyprus Umber, with Privacy having a tad more of a chocolate richness to it and Devilish is similar to Venetian Red and Red Ochre in Modern Renaissance. I tried the dual ended pencil and crease brush but I didn't like the crease end of the brush; it just did not perform very well.
I am very pleased with how the matte shades blend; very beautiful almost airbrushed effect! Different to the Modern Renaissance eyeshadow palette and I dare say they blend better. I do think this is a great palette and I am glad I purchased it. In Australia this palette costs $83 AUD so it's very expensive for it to be a disappointment but it wasn't . I look forward to future Urban Decay eyeshadow palette releases!
I definitely recommend if you need some cherry goodness in your life!
